New Phillies Uniforms II Friday January 4th, 2008

Here it is, ladies and gentlemen. A little bit late, but, nonetheless, here they are: The “block” set of new jerseys for the Philadelphia Phillies. Jerseys and hats are from the same place as last time, so get the link there. I’ll update the logo later, when I’m not so tired.

Home set:

New “Block” JerseysThis one gets rid of pinstripes on the home uniform for the first time since Robin Roberts played. This is to be worn during most afternoon home games. It features alternating red and blue script “Phillies” in a blocky font. Also has red collar, that button thing down the middle (a name would be GREAT), and uniform number on the sleeves and bottom-right corner. I based the hat off of the old Reading Phillies hats, which were also blue with a red brim. The R-Phils, of course, changed their uniforms going into ’08, thus inspiring me partly. Anyway, the hat has the new “P” logo in red.

Away:

New “Block” jerseys for the roadThis one is worn on all road games. This one brings back the powder blue for away (there you go, Carson, what’d I tell ya?), with a “regular” blue collar, and “Philadelphia” in the same font/colors as the home jerseys. This would be the first time the team has put the name of the city on the road jerseys, probably because of how long it is (12 letters), and how much of a PAIN it is to make it fit on the jerseys ( I spent at least 30 minutes trying to fix it). This one rids of numbers on the sleeves, but keeps it on the front, and has the same hat as it’s home counterpart.

Third, and finally, the alternates:

New “Block” Alternate JerseysI didn’t want to get rid of the pinstripes completely, so they’ve been banished to the alternate, which is worn on all home day games, and whenever the manager says so. This features maroon stripes (courtesy of Carson-they were originally plain ol’ red), with red sleeves, left side “P” logo, and right side uniform number. The collar was left white. It’s hard to see, but these guys have maroon trim, as well. The hat is the same as the current edition, but with the new “P” logo in white. This jersey is basically a combination of the home and alt jerseys from the “Classic” set.
